| The project “Consumer organizations and general interest services: for a civic evaluation of National Regulatory Authorities” was co-financed by European Commission DG Sanco and involved 8 EU Member States, making use of consumer complaints and information, data and experience of consumer associations and citizens advice bureaus, in order to evaluate the functioning of NRAs in each of the following general interest services: Gas Electricity Postal Services Telecommunications Aviation The evaluation of NRAs proceeds from the information provided by citizens, by means of the different national organizations’ own methodologies. The added value of this kind of evaluation is the representation of citizens and consumers’ point of view. The analysis of the complaints gathered by citizens and consumer organizations and the experiences they might have had working with the NRAs of their respective countries creates a new level of evaluation of the efficiency and efficacy of the NRAs. This activity enables us to compare the strengths and weaknesses of their functioning, as well as to identify best practices.
